ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – UC Irvine saw two school records fall on the first day of the Don Kirby Elite Invitational Friday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Senior Crystal Lizaola notched her second record in as many meets as she topped the UCI charts in the 600m. Sophomores Hope Bushnell (25.19) and Brandy Coward (25.51) both added PRs that rank among the top-five in program history.
Junior Tyra Jones had a top-10 finish in the qualifying round of the 60-meter hurdles as she came in ninth out of 55 competitors with a personal-record 8.69 seconds.
Senior Megan George ran a lifetime-best 7.66 to finish 22nd in the 60m qualifier. Bushnell also placed 34th overall as she registered a personal-record 7.70, while Coward (7.90) and Jones (7.91) each had season bests.
