AM830 To Carry UC Irvine Games Again This Season

| By:
UC Irvine Athletics announced that it has extended an agreement with AM830 KLAA to continue to broadcast UC Irvine men's basketball games this season.

The agreement enters its second season, increasing the number of games to a carried to a minimum of 14, compared to 11 last year.

AM830 is a locally-owned 50,000-watt radio station which provides both live sports and a sports-talk format serving Southern California. AM830 is the flagship station for Angels Baseball, the Anaheim Ducks and carries a variety of weekly sports programming including Mike & Mike in the morning, The Rich Eisen Show, The Sports Lodge with Roger Lodge, and ESPN sports programming.

Trent Rush, will take over the broadcast duties, serving as the voice of UC Irvine men's basketball in 2017-18. Rush is a familiar voice to AM830 fans as he hosts the Angels Recap post-game show which airs after all Angels home games. Rush is also AM830s weekday morning sports anchor and reporter.

"We are excited to continue our relationship with AM830 and are excited to expand our offering this season," UCI Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing & Community Engagement Robby Ray said. "AM830 provides excellent coverage throughout the greater Los Angeles area, creating access to new and existing UC Irvine fans across a commercial station."

UCI has claimed the Big West regular season title the past two seasons and was picked to win it again in the recently released Big West Media Preseason poll. The Anteaters have recorded five consecutive 20-win seasons, including 21-15 in 2016-17. In the past five seasons, UCI is 114-66 overall and 60-22 in Big West Conference games. The 'Eaters were 12-4 in Big West play last season, winning those 12 games by an average of 18.0 points.
