Coach Klatt, Team USA Bring Home Back-to-Back Olympic Gold

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil --- The U.S. Olympic women's water polo squad defended their title going undefeated in the 2016 Summer Olympic tournament to capture a second straight Gold medal.

The Americans left no doubt with a resounding 12-5 victory over Italy in the final Friday afternoon. After running through Spain, China, and Hungary in the group stage, the U.S. posted a 10-goal win over host Brazil in the quarterfinal, and fended off a tough Hungarian squad again, 14-10, in the semifinal to pave the way to Gold.

The U.S. women now have Golds in consecutive Olympic Games, the first two for the program, and they also become the first women's water polo squad to win Gold in consecutive games.
