UC Irvine Moves Up a Spot at Big West

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. --- UC Irvine moved up a spot on the leaderboard in the second round of the Big West Conference Championship at Wood Ranch Golf Club Tuesday.

The Anteaters shot 293 in the second round for an eight-shot improvement from Monday to move into seventh place.  UCI has a 36-hole total of 594 as UC Riverside is in first at 574, Cal Poly is second at 580 and UC Santa Barbara is in third place at 581.

UCI senior Jacob Schulze shot his second consecutive even-par round of 72 and is in a nine-way tie for sixth place at 144.

Sophomore David Kim also shot 72 Tuesday and is in 18th at 147 while redshirt freshman Chris Parkinson carded a 73 and is 24th at 149.

Sophomore Jonathan Young had a 76 in the second round and is in 41st at 155, as is junior Bryan Shin, who shot 77 Tuesday.

Brandon Bauman of UC Santa Barbara, Daniel Chian from Long Beach State, and Ben Corfee of UC Davis are tied for the individual lead with 3-under totals of 141.

The final round is scheduled for Wednesday beginning at 7:30 a.m.
