LAWRENCE, Kan. --- Junior Matt Seawright had UC Irvine's top finish Friday in the NCAA West Preliminary Round at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kan.

He finished 21st overall in the hammer throw with a mark of 199-10 as the event resumed Friday morning after being suspended due to weather Thursday.

Seawright will compete in the discus throw Saturday at 7:00 a.m. (PT).

In the 400-meter hurdles, Brandon Howard placed 31st overall with a time of 52.68 seconds and Cameron Vaca was 43rd in 54.97.

Lloyd Sicard competes in the 110-meter hurdles Saturday at 10:00 a.m. (PT) with the top 12 finishers advancing to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 8-11.
