Irvine, Calif. – UC Irvine (6-14, 4-4) capped off their final season home match with a 7-0 win over UC Riverside (3-14, 0-7).
The Anteaters swept doubles only losing two games, and then pushed on to win in straight sets in all singles flights.
Senior duo Sarah Gong and Mazy Watrous took flight one 6-0, and No. 2 pair Taylor LeFridge and Vivien Dvali also won 6-0. Andrea Duva and Stephanie Hazell finished with a win at the No. 3 spot, 6-2 over Kassie Truong and Arabella Valera taking the doubles point.
Dvali earned the 'Eaters their second point with a 6-2, 6-0 win at flight two and advanced her singles match-streak to five. No. 4 Watrous defeated Caroline Hall 6-0, 6-3 followed by the clinching point when senior No. 5 Duva earned the victory over Natalie Penner, 6-3, 6-1.
The remaining matches finished with wins as No. 6 Cassidy Branstine won 6-4, 6-0 and No. 3 LeFridge finished on top 6-3, 6-2. Gong closed out the match with a win at flight one 6-3, 6-2 over Chloe Pham.
The Anteaters are poised for the Big West Championship seeded either fifth or sixth depending on the outcome of the remaining conference matches to be played by Hawai'i and UC Davis this weekend. Action will begin for the 'Eaters on Thursday (April 28) in the Quarterfinals.
