LONG BEACH, Calif. --- Sophomore Persis William-Mensah broke her own school record in the 100 meters at the Beach Invitational Saturday.
She won the event with a time of 11.69 seconds, eclipsing her previous UCI mark of 11.72 set last year. Taisyn Crutchfield placed 16th in 12.09 in the field of 94 competitors.
Kaulyn Lee-McNeill finished third in the 400-meter hurdles in 59.09 as she improved on her No. 4 time in the Anteater record book.
Paige Bushnell was 10th in the 400 hurdles in 60.57 and Crystal Lizaola was 23rd in 61.78.
Michelle Norman finished fourth of 86 entrants in the 200 meters in 24.18 and Taisyn Crutchfield was 17th in 24.67.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Megan George finished fifth of 95 with a time of 13.37, Megan Benson was 18th in 14.12 and Paige Bushnell 23rd in 14.16.
Barbara Coward was 14th in the discus throw with a mark of 150-0 and Simone Buchanan placed 21st in the 400 meters in 56.57.
Ariel Cheng cleared 12-6 ¼ in the pole vault to finish 27th.
UCI travels to La Jolla for the Triton Invitational Friday and Saturday.
