Anteaters Finish 11th at Western Intercollegiate

 

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. --- UC Irvine placed 11th in the 70th Annual Western Intercollegiate that concluded Wednesday at Pasatiempo Golf Club.

The Anteaters finished with a 54-hole total of 1,116 in the 6-count-5 scoring format.  Stanford won the tournament at 1,041, USC was second at 1,051 and Oregon third at 1,059.

Senior Jacob Schulze led UCI with a 28th-place finish of 216 after he shot a final-round 74.

Sophomore David Kim, who had a 71 in the final round, placed 42nd at 219 and sophomore Jonathan Young (76) finished 67th at 226.

Junior Bryan Shin, with a 73 Wednesday, placed 70th at 228, redshirt freshman Chris Parkinson (76) was 85th at 234 and sophomore Johnny Hyun (78) finished 91st at 240.

Maverick McNealy of Stanford, who shot a 6-under 64 in the final round, earned medalist honors with a three-round total of 16-under 194.

UCI prepares for the Big West Conference Championship at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley May 2-4.
