'Eaters Tied for 12th at Western Intercollegiate

 

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. --- UC Irvine is tied for 12th after Monday's opening round of the 70th annual Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz.

The Anteaters and Arizona each shot 370 to tie for 12th place.  Oregon leads at 341, Stanford is second at 345 and USC third at 346 in the 6-count-5 format for scoring.

UCI sophomore David Kim shot a 2-over 72 in the first round and is in 38th place.  Sophomore Jonathan Young and senior Jacob Schulze are tied for 50th after each shot 73 Monday.

Junior Bryan Shin and sophomore Johnny Hyun had rounds of 76 each and are tied for 73rd.  Redshirt freshman Chris Parkinson is 91st after a first-round 83.

Aaron Wise of Oregon is the individual leader after firing a 7-under 63 in the first round.

The second round is scheduled to begin at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday with a shotgun start and the final round is slated for Wednesday.
