UC Irvine Falls to Portland, 4-1

Irvine, Calif – The rain broke for the afternoon as UC Irvine lost a tough 4-1 match against the Portland Pilots.

The Anteaters and Pilots split doubles sets with the first point of the match coming down to No. 3 pair Mazy Watrous and newcomer Ashlynn Hall. The duo went back and forth with Portland tying it up 5-5 before the Pilots took the final two games to win the set and the doubles point.

Cassidy Branstine made quick work at the No.6 singles spot winning her sets 6-2, 6-0, and giving the 'Eaters a point.
Portland went on to earn two more points at Nos. 2 and 3 singles while Andrea Duva fought hard at No. 5 forcing a tie-breaker for her first set and reducing a 1-4 deficit in her second set but finally succumbing 3-6 in that second set as the Pilots clinched the fourth and final point of the match.

The Anteaters continue to compete at home as they face Middle Tennessee on Tuesday (Mar. 8) at 1:30 PM at the Anteater Tennis Stadium.
