LA JOLLA, Calif. --- UC Irvine won six events in the season-opening All-UC Meet at La Jolla Saturday.
On the track, Lloyd Sicard placed first in the 100 meters with a time of 10.76 seconds, Cameron Vaca won the 400 meters in 49.17, and Oliver Pham (14.961) and Kyle Hubbard (14.967) went 1-2 in the 110-meter hurdles.
UCI dominated the throwing events as Matt Seawright earned first in the hammer throw with a mark of 197-3 for the No. 4 mark in Anteater history.
Lawrence O'Hara won the shot put at 50-8 ¼ and Omar Valenzuela placed first in the discus throw with a mark of 159-3. O'Hara was second in the discus at 155-8 and Seawright third at 149-11.
Duane Solomon finished second in the 200 meters in 22.19, Branden Randall was runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:39.02.
Jake Williams placed third in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.96 and Isaiah Thompson was third in the 3,000 meters in 8:30.29.
UCI finished third in the team competition with 97 points. Host UC San Diego won the meet with 143 points and UC Santa Barbara was second with 141.
UCI hosts the Anteater 4-Way next Saturday, facing Long Beach State, Army and Cerritos College at Anteater Stadium. Field events begin at 9:00 a.m. with the first track event at 12:00 p.m.
