Davis, Calif. – UC Irvine (3-11) started their road trip with a 4-3 win over UC Davis (6-9) as the Anteaters played just their third conference match of the season and earned their first Big West win.
The 'Eaters swept the doubles spots to take the early 1-0 lead. However, the match would not be decided until the final singles match was played at flight five.
The Aggies took the first singles point at the No. 2 spot to tie it up. The contest forged ahead going back and forth as UCI and UC Davis continued to split the wins. The fourth and final point was clinched for the Anteaters when No. 5 Andrea Dvali defeated Kamila Kecki 1-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Also for the 'Eaters No. 6 Cassidy Branstine defeated Samantha Martino 6-4, 6-2 and No. 1 Sarah Gong had the 1-6, 6-2, 6-1 win over Lani-Rae Green.
UC Irvine is at No. 38 Fresno State on Saturday (Mar. 26) at 11:00 a.m.
