RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. -- UC Irvine finished in a tie for third at The Farms Collegiate Invitational at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe Tuesday.
The Anteaters ended the two-day tournament in tie for third place with UC Riverside after recording a score of 894 (291-298-305). SMU captured the title at eight under par 856 followed by San Francisco at 885. SMU had four players finish in the top 10, led by medalist Ryan Burgess with a 54-hole score of 209 (70-71-68).
UCI had a tournament-high three eagles, including two by Jonathan Young. The Anteaters led the field on Par 5 holes, shooting -14 (4.77). Jacob Schulze was second in pars with 36 as UCI posted a tournament-best 166 overall.
Young paced UCI with a three-round total of 219 (72-72-75) to finish tied for 10th, a season-best by the sophomore and his second career Top 10 performance. Bryan Shin was 14th with a score of 222 (74-72-76), while Schulze was tied for 21st at 225 (71-75-79). Johnny Hyun was tied for 38th with a three-round score of 230 (74-79-77) and Ryan O'Connor was tied for 40th at 231 (75-79-77).
Next, UCI will participate in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate Classic Club on Feb. 19-21 in Palm Desert.
