PALM DESERT, Calif. --- UC Irvine is tied for 15th place after Friday's first round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at the Classic Club in Palm Desert.
The Anteaters and UT Arlington each shot 306 in the opening round. Kansas leads at 285, TCU is second at 288 and Colorado third at 289.
UCI sophomore Jonathan Young shot a 1-over 73 and is in 19th place. Senior Jacob Schulze is in 37th after a first round of 75.
Junior Bryan Shin shot 78 and is 75th, redshirt freshman Chris Parkinson (80) is 92nd and sophomore Johnny Hyun (81) is in 99th place.
Sarosh Adi of TCU is the individual leader after shooting 5-under 67 Friday.
Tournament action continues Saturday and Sunday, with 18 holes scheduled each day beginning at 7:30 a.m.
