Las Cruces, NM – Three UC Irvine players sit in the top 10 as the Anteaters are perched atop the leaderboard after the first round of the NMSU Aggie Invitational held at the New Mexico State Golf Course.
The Anteaters lead the 10-team tournament with a first day score of 293, two strokes in front of host New Mexico State (295) and four ahead of UTEP (297). South Dakota State (299) and Stephen F. Austin (305) round out the top five.
UCI is led by junior Camille Wagg who is tied for second place after the first 18 holes with a career-low 70. The junior drained tournament-best five birdies. Junior Kaley In is fourth after a one-under 71 and junior Breanne Jones is tied for 10th at 75. Senior Samantha Chan shot a 77 and is in 21st place followed by Avery French with an 80 which is tied for the 38th spot. Freshman Sabrina Li shot a 78 in her first collegiate tournament and is tied for 30th.
The tournament continues with 18 holes on Tuesday and Wednesday.
