RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- UC Irvine placed fourth at the Highlander Invitational in Riverside Saturday morning.
The Anteaters totaled 91 points as San Diego State won the title with 46, Cal State Fullerton was second with 54 and UC Riverside third with 79.
Freshman Anastasia Karnaze led UCI with an 11th-place finish of 17:48.14 over 5,000 meters at the UCR Agricultural Operations Course.
Brenda Dorantes placed 17th in 18:15.75, Aliya Shah was 18th in 18:16.05 and Marisa Gonzalez 21st in 18:19.14.
Lisa Vasquez finished 24th in 18:27.00, Hallie Pullum 30th (18:34.71) and Hannah Ruby 46th (19:07.82) to complete the Anteaters' top seven.
Faith Makau of UC Riverside was first in the race with a time of 17:06.14.
UCI's next competition is at the Big West Conference Championships on the Kahuku Golf Course in Kahuku, Hawai'i, Oct. 29.
