MALIBU, Calif. – UC Irvine junior Vivien Dvali and freshman Constance Branstine got off to a strong start in doubles competition at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships Saturday morning at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
In their first match of the 2016 fall season, Branstine and Dvali defeated Nataliya Vlasova/Holly Hutchinson of Old Dominion, 8-4. The Anteaters move on to the pre-qualifying Round of 16 where they will face Liberty's duo of Evangeline Crist and Anna Dollar at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2.
If Branstine and Dvali win tomorrow morning, they will play again at 3 p.m. for a spot in the qualifying draw, which begins on Tuesday, Oct. 4. All of Sunday's matches will be contested at Pepperdine's Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
This is the first time UCI has been represented at the prestigious Riviera/ITA All-American Championships since 2013 when Franziska Goettsching and Sarah Gong advanced to the Round of 16 in pre-qualifying doubles.
