School Record Falls in Seattle

 

SEATTLE, Wash. --- Sophomore Persis William-Mensah smashed her own indoor school record in the 60-meter dash at the UW Invitational in Seattle Saturday.

She registered a time of 7.49 seconds in the qualifying preliminaries at Dempsey Indoor, eclipsing the mark of 7.59 she set last year.

William-Mensah went on to run 7.55 in the 60 prelims, but did not compete in the final.   Sophomore Taisyn Crutchfield posted a time of 7.73 in the qualifying prelims and ran 7.76 in the prelims.

Sophomore Tyra Jones had a time of 8.08 in the 60-meter qualifying prelims and senior Paige Bushnell 8.13.

Senior Kaulyn Lee-McNeill and sophomore Simone Buchanan recorded the fifth and sixth-fastest times in UCI indoor history in the 400 meters, as Lee-McNeill ran 57.96 and Buchanan 58.07.

Senior Crystal Lizaola had a 400 time of 59.94 and junior Saniya Syed 60.57.

In the 800 meters, senior Lauren Hall recorded a time of 2:20.38, junior Aliya Shah 2:20.74 and freshman Hallie Pullum 2:20.89.

Junior Megan George ran 8.72 in the 60-meter hurdles qualifying prelims, but did not advance from the prelims with a time of 8.67.

In the 60 hurdles qualifying prelims, Bushnell had a time of 9.05 and Jones 9.11.

UCI travels to Albuquerque, N.M., Feb. 12-13 for the Don Kirby Invitational.
