Men's Volleyball Introduces New Staff Members

UC Irvine men's volleyball has welcomed Jordan Cheng and LV Hanson to the coaching staff this season.

Cheng begins his first year with the Anteaters as an assistant coach after serving as a women's assistant coach at Concordia last season.

Cheng graduated from Chapman University in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in business. Cheng, who founded the university's club volleyball team in 2009, played opposite and setter from 2011-13.

Following graduation, Cheng became the Director of Operations for the men's volleyball team at Pepperdine where he acted as the team's Data Volley statistician, coordinated travel and other day-to-day administrative duties in 2014-15.

He received his master's degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration serving as the men's graduate assistant coach at Concordia University. In the past three years, Cheng has interned with the USA men's national team and was the Technical Coordinator for the 2015 Pan American Cup USA men's volleyball team.

He was prepped at Beckman High School where he was an All-Pacific Coast League setter.

Cheng has his AAA rating on the beach.

Hanson begins his first season as a volunteer assistant with a focus on culture and leadership development.

Hanson is a 2002 graduate of the University of Colorado where he earned his bachelor's degree in communication and business.  He was a four-year starter and captain for the men's volleyball club team, earning first-team All-American honors as a junior and senior.  Following graduation, Hanson played professionally for Astec Triglav in Kranj, Slovenia and on the beach in AVP tournaments.
