UC Irvine with Strong Start at Winter Intercollegiate

 

BEAUMONT, Calif. --- UC Irvine is in second place after Monday's first two rounds of the Winter Intercollegiate at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont.

The Anteaters have a 36-hole total of 598 to trail leader UC Santa Barbara (593) by five shots.  Eastern Kentucky is in third place at 600.

UCI sophomores Johnny Hyun and David Kim are tied for fifth place at 3-over 147 after each shot rounds of 77-70.

Senior Jacob Schulze is 17th at 152 (73-79), junior Bryan Shin is 22nd at 154 (79-75) and sophomore Jonathan Young is 29th at 156 (77-79).

Redshirt freshman Chris Parkinson, competing as an individual, shot 159 (81-78) and is in 39th place.

Brandon Bauman of UC Santa Barbara is the individual leader at 4-under 140 (72-68).

The final round is scheduled for Tuesday.
