IRVINE, Calif. --- Senior Courtney Sharar led UC Irvine in the season-opening adidas/UCI Invitational Saturday at the Anteater Recreation Center Fields.
Sharar finished 34th of 159 runners with a time of 19:20.47 over the 5,000-meter course. Yulissa Mendoza placed 37th in 19:24.67, Megan Mirkhanian was 42nd in 19:29.29 and Alice Yang finished 53rd in 19:44.78.
Pearl Law was 59th in 19:52.59, Hannah Ruby 63rd (19:57.28) and Aliya Shah 66th (20:01.26) to complete UCI's top seven.
Aminat Olowora of Southwestern College won the individual title with a time of 17:14.82.
UCI finished ninth in the team competition with 208 points. Biola was first with 82, Cal State San Bernardino second with 95 and UC San Diego third with 99.
The Anteaters return to action in the Mustang Challenge Sept. 19, hosted by The Master's College at Central Park in Santa Clarita.
