Box Score

OMAHA, Neb. --- Men's soccer's return to Omaha was met with its first regular season non-conference loss in 12 matches falling 1-0 to UNO Friday evening.

The Mavericks (3-0) pelted UC Irvine (1-1) early and often with 12 shots by the half and a 15-3 advantage early in the second half.

They snagged the early advantage on a goal from Mark Moulton second goal of the season in the 23rd minute helped along by Fazlo Alihodzic.

The Anteaters' answer never came despite directing six of its nine shots on frame. A late charge saw UCI put up the last six shots of the match, but UNO never broke.

"We faced a very aggressive and motivated team tonight that put us on our heels early in the first half," Head Coach Chris Volk said of the match. "I thought we had the better of the second half in possession and created a few chances to equalize. We must regroup as we face a top quality team in Creighton. It is important to move forward, learn from our first road game and stay positive as a unit."

The offense never really got into a rhythm being called offside on eight occasions while each squad finished with six corner kicks.

The trip doesn't let up for the squad with a quick shot to No. 3 Creighton on Sunday, Sept. 6. The match will stream live starting at 5:00 p.m.
