SANTA CLARITA, Calif. --- Freshman Lisa Vasquez led UC Irvine Saturday as the Anteaters finished 10th in the Mustang Challenge at Santa Clarita's Central Park.
Vasquez toured the 5,000-meter course in 18:52.02 to place 50th while teammate Courtney Sharar followed in 51st place with a time of 18:53.30 in the field of 226 competitors.
Yulissa Mendoza finished 66th in 19:09.79, Alice Yang was 73rd (19:17.65), Megan Mirkhanian was 76th (19:18.96), Hannah Ruby 80th (19:21.42) and Aliya Shah 83rd in 19:29.86 to complete UCI's top seven.
Danielle Shanahan of Loyola Marymount won the race with a time of 17:23.18.
LMU won the team competition with 36 points, UCLA was second with 94 and Biola third with 119. UCI finished 10th with 269 points.
The Anteaters compete in the 42nd Stanford Invitational Saturday at the Stanford Golf Course.
