UC Irvine Opens With 17th Place Finish At Ptarmigan Ram Classic

Fort Collins, Colo. – UC Irvine opened the season with a 17th place finish at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic at the Ptarmigan Country Club.

The Anteaters shot a three-round total of 941 (312-304-325). BYU won the event with a score of 876 (293-287-296) and Texas Tech's Sarah Brown won the individual title with a four-under par 212 (69-73-70).

Sophomore Kelsey Kawaguchi led UC Irvine in the first tournament of the year with a 46th place finish. She shot a 54-hole total of 230 (75-75-80). Sophomore Breanne Jones was 55th with a scorre of 232 (76-73-83), senior Kristin Henno was 81st at 241 (78-82-81) and junior Samantha Chan was 84th with a score of 243 (83-76-84). After a first round disqualification, sophomore Camille Wagg recorded an 80-81 on the final two rounds and placed 90th.

UCI will travel to the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate Sept. 26-27 at the Classic Club in Palm Desert , Calif.
