UC Irvine opens its 2015-16 season competing in the 2015 Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic at the Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament runs Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 14-15). Teams will play 36 holes Monday, in a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. and 18 holes Tuesday.
The course is a par 72, playing at 6,295 yards.
The tournament features Boise State, BYU, Cal, East Tennessee State, Fresno State, Idaho, Kennesaw State, Long Beach State, Nevada, Northern Colorado, Portland State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Texas Tech, Wyoming and host Colorado State.
The Anteater lineup includes Kristin Henno, Kelsey Kawaguchi, Camille Wagg, Breanne Jones, and Samantha Chan.
Ptarmigan is a Jack Nichlaus Signature Course that hosted the 1991 and 1993 USGA Local US Open Qualifier.
Up next, UCI will compete at Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegate. The tournament will be held in Palm Desert, Calif. at the Classic Club.
IN THE CLUBHOUSE
UCI had a season-best fourth place finish in the season opener last year at the Rose City Intercollegiate. The Anteaters placed seventh at the Big West Championships.
Junior Samantha Chan, sophomore Camille Wagg and senior Kristin Henno top the list of returnees. Chan had the team's best finish last year, placing third at the Rose City Collegiate with a career-best performance of 218. Wagg, who owned a 76.64 scoring average a year ago, led the Anteaters with a 10th place finish at the Big West Championships, firing a season-best 72 on the second round. Henno was one of three players to compete in all nine tournaments.
Junior Kaley In, who led UCI in scoring a season ago, will redshirt this season.
UCI All-American Jane Chin returns this season as an assistant coach.
