BY THE NUMBERS
1 – Last season, Arden Davis became the first Anteater to end the season ranked first in dig average in the Big West Conference. The junior averaged 4.44 digs per set, besting her freshman average of 3.77.
24 – Davis was also solid from the service line, finishing third on the team with 24 aces. An important weapon, Davis and teammate Shelley Anderson are the two returning players who reached double-figures in aces last year.
108 – Davis anchored the back row last year and needs just 108 digs to reach the 1,000 career milestone. If she averages four digs per set as she did last year, Davis could be close to 1000 digs in UCI's home opener, Sept. 18.
Davis was an All-Big West Conference performer last year and the team will look to her again this year to be a defensive stalwart. The keys to Davis are to continue leading by example with her strong work ethic and to be a steady force in the back-row.
FROM THE TONGUE
"To be a successful women's volleyball student-athlete you need to be mentally tough, play with heart, and have the right attitude. You can't control every circumstance that comes your way, but you can control your reaction to it. By producing positive reactions to both good and bad circumstances, you can create success from anything."
