Irvine, Calif. -- UC Irvine men's water polo player Pablo Carballo will play for Mexico at the Pan Am Games in Toronto from July 7-15.
"It's a great honor to represent my country Mexico, as well as UC Irvine, at the Pan American games this summer," Carballo said. "I want to thank my teammates and coaches, who contributed in helping me achieve this goal. I look forward to bringing home a medal."
The native of Mexico City scored 11 goals last year for the Anteaters.
"Pablo has put a lot of hard work into making this team, and I'm sure he will gain both experience and confidence," UCI head coach Marc Hunt noted. "I commend Pablo on his effort, and wish him luck at the Games. I look forward to him sharing his experience through his tweets."
