AUSTIN, Texas --- A remarkable 2015 season continues for Lloyd Sicard as the UC Irvine sophomore earned a berth in the NCAA Championships.
Sicard smashed his own school record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.60 seconds Saturday in the quarterfinals of the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas.
The reigning Big West Conference champion won his heat and was second overall of the 12 men who gained spots in the NCAA Championships at Eugene, Ore., June 10-13.
Sicard broke his own UCI school mark of 13.79 seconds that he set in the adidas/Steve Scott Invitational May 2.
He will compete in the 110 hurdles semifinals of the national meet June 10 at 5:02 p.m. at legendary Hayward Field in Eugene.
Sicard is the first member of the program to qualify for the NCAA Championships since 2012, when Charles Jock won the 800-meter title.
