IRVINE, Calif. --- Two school records fell for the UC Irvine men's track and field team in the 21st adidas/Steve Scott Invitational at Anteater Stadium Saturday.
On a day when the UCI seniors were recognized at their final home meet, one of the honorees, Mason Miller, shattered his own school mark in the shot put.
Miller registered a mark of 60-6 to break the record for the third time in the past two weeks. Saturday's effort was the top collegiate mark, and fourth overall, in the event as he passed his previous record of 58-10 ¼ that he had set at the Beach Invitational Apr. 18.
Sophomore Lloyd Sicard set a new UCI record in winning the 110-meter hurdles in 13.79, breaking the previous mark of 13.80 set by Stan Longino 32 years ago in 1983. Kyle Hubbard finished fifth Saturday in 14.65.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Cameron Vaca finished second in 51.71, tying Sicard for No. 5 all-time at UCI. Sicard, who recorded that time last season, placed third Saturday in 51.77 and Brandon Howard was fifth in 52.47.
Isaiah Thompson also had a top-five showing for the 'Eaters Saturday, placing fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.17. UCI alum Charles Jock, the 2012 NCAA champion in the event, was second in 1:48.29.
The Anteaters' 4x400 relay of Vaca, Sicard, Howard and Charles Michinock finished second with a season-best time of 3:13.51.
The 4x100 relay of Oliver Pham, Kolton Cody, Mike Graf and Michael Hamill placed fifth in 43.02.
In addition to Miller, the other Anteater seniors recognized Saturday were Munir Kahssay, Riley Martin, Tommy Newton-Neal and Alex Tebbe.
Next on the UCI schedule is the Oxy Invite next Saturday (May 9), followed by the Big West Conference Championships at Riverside May 15-16.
