IRVINE, Calif. --- Day one finished up for the men as they gathered 21 team points to open the Spring Break Collegiate Invitational at Anteater Stadium.

Alex Tebbe made a mark with a new personal record in the 5000m finishing at 14:34.07, over a second better than this 14:35.54 he set in this meet last year. Tebbe finished second in the race just under four seconds behind Utah State's Eric Shellhorn. Freshman Izzak Mireles came in seventh and Balke Wanser was 13th in the field of 18 runners.

Elsewhere, Tommy Newton-Neal finished four in the 3000m Steeplechase at 9:38.30, and freshman Jon Dickinson took the Flight 2 Hammer Throw with a distance of 129-0m.

The action picks up Saturday at 10:00 a.m. for the 'Eaters.
