VALENCIA, Calif. --- UC Irvine is in eighth place after the first two rounds of the Jones Invitational at Valencia Country Club.
The Anteaters recorded a 36-hole total of 586, which placed them just three shots out of fifth.
USC leads the 15-team tournament at 565, Kennesaw State is second at 571 and Winthrop is in third at 574.
UCI freshman David Kim is in eighth place after shooting 2-under 142 on rounds of 70-72.
Freshman Jonathan Young is 26th at 147 (75-72), senior Pete Fernandez is 39th at 149 (77-72) while junior Jacob Schulze (75-77) and sophomore Bryan Shin (79-73) are tied for 52nd at 152.
Teremoana Beaucousin of Kennesaw State is the individual leader at 9-under 135 (66-69).
The final round is scheduled for Tuesday, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
