LAKESIDE, Calif. --- UC Irvine placed fourth in the Barona Collegiate Cup that concluded Tuesday at Barona Creek Golf Club in Lakeside.
The Anteaters and UC Riverside tied for fourth with 54-hole totals of 857 in the 13-team tournament. Host San Diego State finished first at 833, San Diego was second at 845 and Sacramento State third at 853.
Senior Pete Fernandez led UCI with an 11th-place finish of 5-under 211 after shooting a 2-under 70 in the final round.
Bryan Shin shot 72 in the last round and placed 17th at 214, and Jacob Schulze, with a 3-under 69 in the final round, finished 24th at 216. Jonathan Young (71) and David Kim (74) tied for 42nd place at 221.
Xander Schauffele of San Diego State was medalist at 199 after shooting 8-under 64 Tuesday.
Coach Paul Smolinski's 'Eaters return to action Feb. 23-24 in the Jones Invitational at Valencia Country Club.
