David Kim Tops Leaderboard in Stockton

 

STOCKTON, Calif. – UC Irvine sophomore David Kim is the individual leader after Thursday's opening round in the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational at the Stockton Golf & Country Club.

Kim shot a 2-under par 69 on a fairly windy day and was only one of two players to break par Thursday.  Matt Lee of Pacific, competing as an individual, shot 70 on the par-71 course that measures 6,516 yards.

The 'Eaters are in a three-way tie for third place with Pacific and Sacramento State at 299.  Long Beach State leads the 16-team tournament at 292 and Denver is second at 297.

UCI senior Jacob Schulze shot an opening-round 76 and is in 31st place, freshman Jefferson Kao and sophomore Jonathan Young are tied for 41st after rounds of 77, and freshman Ramiz Jamal shot an 81 and is 74th.

The second round is scheduled for Friday with the 'Eaters beginning on the first tee at 8:30 a.m.

The final round is set for Saturday.
