'Eaters in 14th at Bill Cullum Invitational

 

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. --- UC Irvine is tied for 14th place after the first day of competition in the Bill Cullum Invitational at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley.

UCI shot 596 over 36 holes Monday to be tied with Southern Utah.  Loyola Marymount leads at 559, Seattle is second at 562 and Santa Clara third at 564.

Freshman Jefferson Kao shot 73-73 and is in 34th place at 146.  Sophomore Jonathan Young is 51st at 148 (70-78), freshman Ramiz Jamal 65th at 151 (76-75), senior Jacob Schulze 81st at 155 (74-81) and sophomore David Kim 85th at 156 (79-77).

Junior Bryan Shin, competing individually, shot 148 (73-75) and is tied for 51st.

Joe Harvie of Seattle is the individual leader at 10-under 134 (68-66).

The final round is scheduled for Tuesday.
