UCI Places Eighth at Highlander Invitational

 

RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Junior Aliya Shah was UC Irvine's top runner Saturday in the Highlander Invitational at Riverside.

Shah covered 5,000 meters in 18:29.49 at the UCR Agricultural Operations Course to finish 20th of 101 runners.

Pearl Law placed 30th in 18:42.59, Lisa Vasquez was 34th in 18:46.46, Courtney Sharar finished 43rd (19:03.61), Hannah Ruby 44th (19:04.45), Hallie Pullum 45th (19:06.82) and Megan Mirkhanian 47th (19:07.29).

Faith Makau of UC Riverside was the individual champion with a time of 17:17.63.

The Anteaters finished eighth with 160 points.  UC Riverside won the meet with 70 points, San Diego State was second with 81 and USC third with 87.

UCI returns to the UCR Agricultural Operations Course Oct. 31 for the Big West Conference Championships.
