LA JOLLA, Calif. --- Sophomore Lovre Milos erupted for eight goals as No. 8 UC Irvine topped Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 17-7, in the Triton Invitational Saturday afternoon in La Jolla.
Milos had four goals in each half as his scoring outburst capped a 13-goal day after he notched five goals in a victory over Loyola Marymount earlier Saturday.
Brendan Duffy added three goals while Jacob Mourer and Alan Robertson two each for UCI in the win over C-M-S. Dylan Peterson registered 15 saves in goal.
The 'Eaters led 6-4 at halftime and outscored the Stags 11-3 in the second half, including 7-1 in the final quarter.
"Lovre was very consistent finishing the ball," Anteater head coach Marc Hunt said. "(Matt) Skinner and Larson (Pfeil) were strong with controlling 2 meters.
"We still need to show more awareness of defensive situations. (Dylan) Peterson was again very strong in the cage."
UCI continues play in the Triton Invitational Sunday on the UC San Diego campus. The 'Eaters face 11th-ranked UC Davis at 8:00 a.m. at Triton Pool and the University of La Verne at 2:50 p.m. at Canyonview Pool.
