IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine head basketball coach Russell Turner is maintaining an active schedule as a guest speaker at several coaching clinics throughout the state.
He will be speaking Sept. 27 at the Los Angeles Basketball Clinic at the Hilton Orange County/Costa Mesa.
Turner is also a featured speaker at the prestigious Fullcourt Press/Team Athletic Basketball Coaches Clinic Oct. 1 at Hope International University. Other speakers scheduled for the clinic include Cuonzo Martin of Cal, Tad Boyle from Colorado and Dana Altman of Oregon. The clinic is open to all California coaches and their staff members.
Earlier in the day on Oct. 1, Turner will join other Southern California coaches in speaking at the annual College Basketball Tip-Off Luncheon at the Los Angeles Athletic Club.
Beginning his fifth season at UCI, Turner spoke earlier this month at the Sonoma State Coaches Clinic.
He has led UCI to 44 wins over the past two seasons, including 23-12 last season when the Anteaters won the Big West Conference regular-season title for the first time in 12 years and advanced to the postseason for the second straight time.
His Anteater team ranked third in the nation in field-goal percentage defense at .374 and fourth in total blocked shots with a school-record 224 last season.
Turner was named Big West and NABC District 9 Coach of the Year last season.
