Box Score AUBURN, Ala. --- The Anteaters drew its second straight 3-0 defeat at the hands of the host of the Auburn Soccer Classic, Auburn Tigers, Friday night in front of 1,078 fans at Auburn Soccer Complex.
Auburn (2-1-0) held the advantage through the first half with a 7-0 shot advantage including four on target, but Jenn Randazzo and the defense kept the match scoreless.
The Tigers broke the drought in the 52nd minute. After earning its ninth corner kick of the match, Chelsea Gandy-Cromer headed one home for the 1-0 lead.
Ellie Leek extended the advantage in the 62nd minute after Kristen Dodson slotted her a pass at the top of the box and Leek drove it off the crossbar, down and in to make it 2-0.
Auburn completed the scoring in the 80th minute following a free kick opportunity. Casie Ramsier flicked the ball on, and a diving Randazzo got a hand on it, but couldn't prevent it from bounding in off the goal post.
Randazzo did supply the lone highlight of the match stopping a penalty kick in the 82nd minute from Haley Gerken, and then a thwarting a follow-up from Dodson to preserve the 3-0 match.
UC Irvine (0-3-0) managed one shot from freshman Grayson Galbraith in the final minute along with its lone corner kick. The Tigers fashioned 17 shots and 11 corner kicks.
Randazzo finished the match with seven saves giving her 17 for the season.
UCI will finish up the Auburn Soccer Classic on Sunday, Aug. 31 with a 10:00 a.m. match against Indiana.
