IRVINE, Calif. --- Women's water polo punctuated a fantastic 2014 season with four ACWPC All-American recipients.
Junior Danielle Warde led the pack with a second team honor, the second in her career, and now has an All-American for all three years. Warde finished with 59 goals on the season to lead the team to capture Big West Player of the Year honors as well.
Three of her teammates joined her on the list as honorable mentions. Seniors Jessy Cardey and Hannah Croghan return to the list. Cardey becomes the Anteaters' first four-time member of the All-American club after dropping 58 goals making her the all-time leading scorer in program history and snagging her third NCAA All-Tournament honor. She was a second team member in 2012 and has earned honorable mention in the other three years.
Croghan finishes with consecutive honorable mention honors. She netted 51 goals sitting fifth in program history in career goals, and claimed the Big West Tournament MVP this season.
Junior keeper Jillian Yocum rounds out the list making honorable mention for the second straight year. She won 22 of her 31 starts on the season posting a 6.86 goals-against-average and collecting 216 saves.
UC Irvine placed four on the squad one other time, in 2011. Warde's second team accolade gives UCI three all-time adding to the honors earned in 2012 by Warde and Cardey. Multiple Anteaters have made the team in five straight years and six overall.
In total, the women's water polo squad has placed 23 'Eaters on the All-American list. UCI sported four of the 10 Big West players on the list and the only second team member. UCI finished sixth in its third NCAA Tournament appearance, and matched the program's single season win total from 2011 with 25.
