Yorba Linda, Calif. -- UC Irvine is in fifth place after the first two rounds at The Gold Rush presented by Framers Insurance held at the Yorba Linda Country Club.
The Anteaters shot a 36-hole score of 614 (300-314) Monday and will try to move up the leaderboard during the final round tomorrow beginning with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.
Gonzaga leads the 11-team field with a score of 592 (294-298). Host Long Beach State is second (605) followed by Cal State Fullerton (607) and Cal State Northridge (613). Gonzaga's Alice Kim shot two rounds of under-par golf to lead the tournament with a score of 140 (69-71).
Senior Ronnie Valerio (74-79) and freshman Kaley In (75-78) are tied for 15th place with a total of 153. Taryn Yee is tied for 20th at 155 (72-83) and Sara Banke is tied for 22nd with a two-rond total of 156 (80-76). Freshman Samantha Chan shot a 160 (79-81) and is toed ofr 36th place. Brenna Carlson is tied for 44th playing as an individual with a score of 162 (80-82).
