UC Irvine Moves Up Big West Leaderboard

 

SAN JACINTO, Calif. --- UC Irvine shot the second-best team score of the day and moved into fifth place following the second round of the Big West Conference Men's Golf Championship.

The Anteaters shot 1-under 287 Monday and are fifth with a 36-hole total of 588 at the Country Club at Soboba Springs.

Cal State Fullerton leads at 578, UC Davis is second at 580, UC Riverside is third at 586 and Long Beach State fourth at 587 entering Tuesday's final round.

UCI senior Ryan Knapp tied for the best individual score of the day with a 3-under 69 and he is tied for fifth place at 142 for two rounds.

Matt Hansen of UC Davis also shot a 69 Monday and remains the leader at 136.

UCI sophomore Jacob Schulze and freshman Ryan O'Connor each shot 1-under 71 and are tied for 17th place at 148.

Junior Pete Fernandez, with a 78 Monday, is 32nd at 152 and junior Bhuvan Potluri is 39th at 155 after a 76 in the second round.

UCI begins the final round Tuesday off the first hole at 7:30 a.m.
