SAN JACINTO, Calif. --- UC Irvine is in seventh place after the first day of the Big West Conference Men's Golf Championship at the Country Club at Soboba Springs in San Jacinto.
The 'Eaters had a 13-over total of 301 in Sunday's opening round. Cal State Fullerton leads at 287, UC Davis is second at 279 and Hawai'i is third at 290.
Matt Hansen of UC Davis is the individual leader after shooting a 5-under par 67 Sunday.
UCI senior Ryan Knapp shot a 73 and is in 12th place while junior Pete Fernandez carded a 74 and is in 14th.
Sophomore Jacob Schulze and freshman Ryan O'Connor each shot 77 and are tied for 30th. Junior Bhuvan Potluri shot 79 and is in 39th place.
Eighteen holes each are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
The 'Eaters' second round begins at 9:10 a.m. off the first tee Monday.
