SANTA CRUZ, Calif. --- The UC Irvine men's golf team finished ninth in the 68th annual Western Intercollegiate that concluded Sunday at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz.
UCI ended with a 54-hole total of 1,081 in the 6-player, 5-count format. Fourth-ranked Stanford won the 14-team tournament at 1,040, Washington was second at 1,056 and No. 3 California finished third at 1,058.
Anteater junior Pete Fernandez earned his fifth top-five showing of the season, placing third at 4-under 206 after a final round of 2-under 68.
Ryan Knapp shot a 70 Sunday and finished 26th at 214. Ryan O'Connor (74) placed 45th at 218, Bhuvan Potluri (72) was 54th at 221, Travis Russell (77) finished 78th at 226 and Bryan Shin (73) was 86th at 231.
Stanford's Cameron Wilson was medalist with a 7-under total of 203, including a 69 in the last round.
UCI moves on to Santa Barbara for the OGIO-UCSB Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday at Sandpiper Golf Club. Monday features a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m.
