'Eaters With Several Strong Performances in Riverside

 

RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- The UC Irvine men's track and field team turned in multiple impressive showings Saturday at the UC Riverside Spring Classic Invitational.

Freshman Lloyd Sicard won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.19 as he lowered his sixth-best time in the Anteater record book.

He also ran the first leg of UCI's first-place 4x100 relay as the 'Eaters' quartet of Sicard, James Douglas, Mike Kennedy and Brandon Howard registered a time of 41.55.

Stephen Brown also claimed a title Saturday as he won the pole vault with a mark of 16-1 ¾.

Freshman Isaiah Thompson placed third in the 1500 meters (3:48.23) and he was fourth in the 800 meters (1:53.12).

Cameron Vaca was third in the 400-meter hurdles in 54.11 while Mason Miller finished third in the discus throw with a mark of 157-10.

Mike Kennedy also had a top-five finish as he was fifth in the 100 meters in 10.89.

UCI finished seventh in the team competition with 64.50 points as UC Santa Barbara won the meet with 117 points.

The 'Eaters compete in the Cal/Nevada Championships at La Jolla Friday and Saturday.
