IRVINE, Calif. --- Head coach Paula Weishoff has named Aaron Flores as an assistant coach on the UC Irvine women's volleyball staff.
Flores spent the 2010-11 year as a volunteer assistant for the Anteaters and assisted Weishoff with game planning, scouting and film review with the student-athletes. He also assisted in daily development and was responsible for the technical coordination of video and data.
"I am really excited to have Aaron Flores back on staff," said Weishoff. "Aaron was our volunteer for two years and he knows most of the girls on the team, knows my coaching style and the systems that we run. Aaron will be working with the setters and will be the recruiting coordinator. The team has had a focused and productive winter and everyone is excited to get back into the gym and play spring ball."
Following his initial stint at UCI, Flores was the head coach at Rancho Cucomonga High School, where he led the Cougars to a 52-13 record in two seasons. Flores was voted the 2013 Inland Valley Daily Bulletin Coach of the Year after leading the team to the 2013 Baseline League championship and CIF quarterfinals.
He has been involved in the club scene, serving as the co-club Director and head coach of Club West Volleyball Inc. His teams qualified for the Junior Olympics for five consecutive seasons with the 2009 squad nabbing a 2009 bronze medal. He has helped 100 club athletes move on to the collegiate volleyball realm and as co-director, Flores managed operations including travel, recruitment, camps, facility management, coaching instruction in addition to player development.
Flores was the head coach at Corona Centennial High School from 2006-10 and led the team to CIF playoffs each season.
Flores replaces assistant, Jamie Morrison, who joined Karch Kiraly's staff as an assistant coach for the U.S. Women's National Team.
