UCI Goes the Distance for Fifth Win of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine needed plenty of third-set help, but completed the sweep of the week with a 5-2 win over Penn Sunday at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

The 'Eaters scored their fourth doubles point of the week with help from the duos of Jonathan HammelTyler Pham and Ryan CheungJonathan Poon.

Singles started off rocky with the Quakers taking five of the six opening sets. Penn tied it up at No. 3 singles, but three-set comebacks from Tyler Pham and Caryl Hernandez set the stage for Ryan Cheung to clinch the match, 6-1, 2-6, 7-6 (5).

UCI has taken its seventh straight match and risen back even with a 9-9 record. Next it will dive back into conference play with a Wed. Mar. 26 with a 12:00 p.m. match at UC Santa Barbara.
