IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine needed plenty of third-set help, but completed the sweep of the week with a 5-2 win over Penn Sunday at Anteater Tennis Stadium.
The 'Eaters scored their fourth doubles point of the week with help from the duos of Jonathan Hammel – Tyler Pham and Ryan Cheung – Jonathan Poon.
Singles started off rocky with the Quakers taking five of the six opening sets. Penn tied it up at No. 3 singles, but three-set comebacks from Tyler Pham and Caryl Hernandez set the stage for Ryan Cheung to clinch the match, 6-1, 2-6, 7-6 (5).
UCI has taken its seventh straight match and risen back even with a 9-9 record. Next it will dive back into conference play with a Wed. Mar. 26 with a 12:00 p.m. match at UC Santa Barbara.
