UC Irvine Places 10th at San Diego Classic

 

CHULA VISTA, Calif. --- The UC Irvine men's golf team placed 10th in the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic that concluded Tuesday at the San Diego Country Club.

UCI finished with a 54-hole total of 905 as USC won the tournament with a score of 852.  San Diego State finished second at 859 and Wake Forest was third at 862.

San Diego State's Xander Schauffele was medalist with a three-round total of 11-under par 205 after shooting 67 in the final round.

Anteater junior Pete Fernandez shot a 73 Tuesday to finish in 32nd place at 224.

Jacob Schulze, with a 74 in the last round, placed 41st at 227, Ryan O'Connor (76) and Ryan Knapp (75) tied for 52nd at 231 and Bhuvan Potluri (80) was 63rd at 234.

The 'Eaters return to action April 7-8 in the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
