CHULA VISTA, Calif. --- The UC Irvine men's golf team is in ninth place after the first day of the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic at the San Diego Country Club.
UCI has a total of 607 after Monday's two rounds. San Diego State is in first at 570, USC is second at 572 and Michigan is in third at 577.
Junior Pete Fernandez was UCI's top golfer Monday as he is in 41st place at 151 (72-79). Xander Schauffele leads at 6-under 138 (67-71).
The Anteaters' Jacob Schulze is 51st at 153 (74-79), Bhuvan Potluri is 53rd at 154 (74-80), Ryan O'Connor is 56th at 155 (79-76) and Ryan Knapp is 58th at 156 (73-83).
The final round is scheduled for Tuesday.
