Stanford, Calif. -- UC Irvine finished tied for 10th at the Peg Barnard Invitational, the first tournament of the spring schedule held at the Stanford Golf Course.
The Anteaters shot a 36-hole total of 605 (297-308) and tied Long Beach State for 10th place. Host Stanford won the 14-team tournament with a two-day total of two-over par 570 (287-283). Big West member UC Davis finished second, 16 strokes behind the Cardinal (586). UNLV's Dana Finkelstein went 69-68 to win the tournament at 5-under 137.
UC Irvine was led by junior Sara Banke (74-73) and senior Ronnie Valerio (71-76) who tied for 12th with a score of 147. Freshman Samantha Chan was tied for 47th at 155 (76-79) and freshman Kaley In was tied for 60th with a total of 157 (76-81). Senior Taryn Yee was 65th at 159 (79-80).
The Anteaters will host the UC Irvine Invitational presented by Kia Feb. 24-25 at the Santa Ana Country Club.
