Camille Buckley Garners Big West Player Of The Week Accolade

Irvine, Calif. -- UC Irvine senior Camille Buckley was named Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 19.0 points and 14.5 rebounds in back-to-back conference victories.

The forward posted 15 points and 21 rebounds to lead the Anteaters past Long Beach State, 78-58.  It was Buckley's second consecutive 20+ rebound performance with 12 of those caroms coming on the offensive end.  She also hit 9 of 10 from the free throw line.  Buckley notched her 10th double-double of the season in the winning effort.

In a 79-73 overtime win over UC Davis, Buckley topped the squad with 23 points and eight rebounds.  She again was solid from the charity stripe, making 13 of 16 attempts.  She also added a pair of steals.

Buckley helped UCI win two in a row for the second time this season and back-to-back conference games for the first time since Feb. 21, 2013.

After shooting 84.6% (22 of 26) at the foul line over the two games, Buckley moved into 10th all-time at UCI for career free throws made (228).  Her 136 made free throws this year ranks third on the UCI single-season list, and her 174 attempts are ninth.

Buckley set a school record with 26 rebounds versus Cal Poly on Feb. 1, breaking the previous mark that had stood for nearly 20 years. Her 26 boards is currently tied for the most by a player in the country this season.

The senior, who is ranked 21st nationally in rebounding. leads the Big West in boards at 10.8 per game and is one of two players to average a double-double on the year with a 16.5 scoring mark. Buckley UCI will travel to UC Riverside on Saturday (Feb. 15) for the lone game of the week.

Buckley garners the conference's weekly accolade for the second time in her career also earning the award on Nov. 11, 2013.
